Inquire About Becoming a Foster or Adoptive Parent

Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster or adoptive parent for a New Mexico youth. If you live in a state other than New Mexico, you must contact your state of residency to become a licensed foster or adoptive parent prior to considering a NM child available for adoption. This form should only be completed by families who are not licensed foster or adoptive parents, but are interested in more information. After completing the inquiry form you will receive a phone call from one of our foster and adoptive parent navigators within seven business days. If you have any questions you may also contact 1-800-432-2075.

Note: Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) has ceased offering the non-relative Adoption Only program. CYFD does continue to offer the Foster Care program. The Foster Care Program differs in that that the goal of the program is to ultimately reunite the child with their biological parent while the child is in your care for approximately a year. Should you become a Foster Parent it is also a possibility that the children that you foster may become available for adoption.
