CYFD Provider Payments Moving to Debit Card

Dear friends,

Governor Susana Martinez’s administration is committed to streamlining government, making it more efficient and providing excellent service to you, our customers and partners. As leader of the Children, Youth, and Families Department (CYFD), I take that commitment very seriously.

So I’m happy to announce that we are beginning a new program to make CYFD provider payments via an electronic debit card.

The New Mexico CYFD Visa® Debit Card is designed for your convenience. This new payment method provides a fast and secure method of receiving your payments. Payees who will receive these new debit cards include foster care/adoptive providers and child care providers who receive state funding for low-income families.

We’re following a long line of agencies across all levels of government who have implemented similar systems. At the federal level, you can now receive your Social Security benefits via debit card. And at the state level, the Department of Workforce Solutions has long provided unemployment benefits through a debit card.

This project will help better serve our providers and clients. The cards are convenient, secure, and easy to use. But this move to the future also helps us streamline government and save significant amounts of taxpayer dollars as we phase out those old-fashioned paper checks.

And don’t worry, you still have the option of having your payments deposited directly in to your bank accounts as well. If you have any questions, foster care/adoptive providers should contact Protective Services Program at 1-800-432-2075 and child care providers should contact Early Childhood Services Program at 1-800-832-1321.
