Governor Bill Richardson Appoints Bill Dunbar Secretary of CYFD
SANTA FE -- Governor Bill Richardson announced today he has appointed William “Bill” Dunbar to serve as Cabinet Secretary for the Children, Youth and Families Department beginning July 1, 2010. Dunbar currently serves as Deputy Cabinet Secretary and will be replacing Secretary Dorian Dodson who announced her retirement earlier this month.
“Mr. Dunbar is the best person to carry forward the mission of the Children, Youth and Families Department,” Governor Bill Richardson said. “He has a comprehensive understanding of the agency’s programs and services, and he is well respected by the department’s employees, advocates, legislators and everyone in my administration.”
Dunbar possesses 30-plus years of human services management and leadership experience. He has served as the Deputy Cabinet Secretary at CYFD since September 2007. He has a proven track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, legislators, advocacy groups, and federal partners.
