NMFFC Scholarship Deadline Approaching
ALBUQUERQUE -- New Mexico Friends of Foster Children (NMFFC) has announced two funds to assist children and youth who are or have been in foster care in New Mexico.
2015 Academic Scholarships:
NMFFC offers annual scholarships for teens and young adults who spent time in the state’s foster care system and want to attend or are attending a community college or university, a specialized training program, an internship, study abroad, or other education or training program. The scholarships provide up to $1000 toward educational and related expenses and will be awarded to aspiring students. The deadline to apply is June 1, and the application is available online at www.nmffc.org.
Year-Round Funding Requests:
NMFFC accepts requests year-round to help meet the needs and interests of children and youth in foster care. The State of New Mexico is able to provide for their basic needs, but the needs of kids in foster care are far from basic and their interests are as varied and important as those of other kids. NMFFC makes funding available for anything from a bicycle to a soccer uniform or team fees to a trumpet or band expenses to tutoring or a computer for schoolwork, based on the request for the individual child. There is no deadline to apply and the application is available online at www.nmffc.org.
