Pummill, Vega Named Employees of the Month by CYFD
SANTA FE – New Mexico’s Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) and Cabinet Secretary Bill Dunbar have announced that Dominique Pummill and Augustine “Gus” Vega have been named Employees of the Month by their respective service areas for the month of July.
Pummill serves as a registered nurse in CYFD’s Juvenile Justice Services division. She is recognized for her outstanding organizational skills, her attentiveness with CYFD clients, and her professionalism. Pummill stepped up and served beyond her call of duty during a recent five-month period when her unit was without a nurse manager.
Honored for his work in the Department’s Protective Services division, Vega is a client service agent in the Dona Ana County office. His caring attitude and commitment to his job are exemplified by a recent case in which an eight-year-old boy, who is deaf and blind, came into CYFD custody under tragic circumstances. Vega made an exceptional effort to form a bond with the child and worked beyond the scope of his job hours to locate a safe placement for him.
