CYFD Employee Brenna Dotson Honored With Rose Praisner Memorial Award


ALBUQUERQUE – Today, Children, Youth and Families Department Secretary Yolanda Deines attended the 33rd annual National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NM) Social Work Conference in Albuquerque. Secretary Deines is a featured speaker at the three-day conference and had the honor of presenting the 2013 Rose Praisner Memorial Award to CYFD employee Brenna Dotson.

“It is a great honor to recognize someone who is very passionate about making a difference in children’s and families lives,” said CYFD Secretary Yolanda Deines.

Brenna Dotson started working for CYFD in 1998 and has been the county office manager for Bernalillo East Permanency Planning for the past 10 years. Prior to coming to work for child protective services in CYFD, Brenna was a geriatric social worker for 13 years.

“Brenna is incredibly committed to the work of protecting children and serving families,” said CYFD Protective Services Division Director Jared Rounsville. “She interacts with the children and families in a very personable way, and is very passionate about developing her staff and truly advocates for them in every way.”

The Rose Praisner Award is the highest honor a social worker can receive for their work to keep children safe and support healthy families. The award is named for Rose Hubbard Praisner who is known as a pioneer for the modern system of child welfare.
