Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the Area One Closure


SANTA FE -- As a result of the decision to close the Area One facility in Springer, NM, many employees have questions. This page contains some of the most frequently asked questions and will serve as a vehicle for providing information employees.

Q: How long do I have to make up my mind whether or not to relocate to Albuquerque?
A: Because it is necessary for JJS to establish appropriate staffing levels, Ms. Pritchard has asked that you respond by September 30, 2009. However, we will accept any decision to relocate through November 30, 2009.

Q: How will I hear if I am being selected for an interview in another agency?
A: If the agency where you applied invites you for an interview, you will be notified directly from that agency.

Q: Do I need to fill out an application for CYFD jobs?
A: Unless you are accepting a relocation to YDDC or Camino Nuevo, you WILL have to apply for any other CYFD vacancies that are posted. The job postings will be internal only to provide Area One employees the Right of First Refusal for jobs they are qualified to hold.

Q: What does Right of First Refusal mean?
A: Right of First Refusal means that employees of Area One are provided the first choice of open vacancies within CYFD at the same or lower pay band before anyone else can be considered. The employee must be qualified to be selected, however. This right will be extended for jobs in all state agencies for a period of six months after an actual layoff occurs.
